DStv chats to the King of Genge Jua Cali on his life lessons and his upcoming fourth album
Kenyan rapper Jua Cali is best known as the King of Genge. He’s one of Kenya’s most respected rappers first breaking big after his debut release, Ruka. Now, he’s on the new season of Coke Studio Africa that airs Sundays at 21:30 on MTV Base (322). On the show, he was paired in music mash ups with Nigerian songstress Yemi Alade.
In an exclusive interview with us, he gushed over Yemi: “She’s a cool chic and wanted to know everything about Genge.” Jua Cali talks about his roots from a simple hood to the world and how he is reaching out to his fans across Africa in Swahili and Sheng.
