Rapper Yasiin Bey 'Mos Def' is coming to Kenya in May.
Yasiin Bey, the hip hop artist formerly known as Mos Def, is planning to come to Kenya on 28 May. Best known for hits like Miss Fat Booty, Kenyan Hip-Hop lovers are set for a great musical experience – that will also mark Yassin’s East African debut.

The rapper will be performing at celebrated Nairobi hip hop event - Rapsody and confirms that he will use his time in Kenya to attend to some charity work like visiting and mentoring youth from slum areas.
2015 marks 16 years since his debut album: Black on Both Sides hit the global music scene. His music has been described by many as conscious hip hop and he remains an activist in America and around the globe. In 2014, he was among a group of more than 100 writers, poets, musicians, filmmakers and artists who were part of a discussion entitled “Africa Re-imagination Creative Hub” in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Mos Def, who hails from Brooklyn, New York, is also an actor who has featured in top Hollywood films such Bamboozled, Monsters Ball and Brown Sugar. His successful acting career can be measured by his Golden Globe and Emmy nominations.
As a solo artist under stage name Mos Def, Yassin Bey has released five critically acclaimed albums: Black on Both Sides in 1999, New Danger in 2004, True Magic in 2006 and The Ecstatic in 2009. His music has influenced several young musicians such as Lupe Fiasco, Jay Electronica, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, and Saigon just to name a few.
His other part of the 90s duo of Black Star, Talib Kweli graced the same event that Bey is planning to attend. In 2014, Talib gave a magnificent performance in Nairobi, which left raving reviews and unforgettable memories.
