He also thanked SuperSport for supporting major local football leagues in Kenya like the DStv Cup.
Commissioner Oluoch further commended SuperSport for their unwavering support towards the broadcasting of local sports including the CECAFA games and Kenya Golf Open - among many others - and for creating a platform on SuperSport East where the agenda of local football can be discussed through informative magazine shows.
SuperSport East Africa General Manager Auka Gecheo said: “MultiChoice invests a significant amount of time and money in skills and talent and has a strong commitment towards long-term sustainability and improvement of local talent. Wanyama is bare testimony to the contribution that SuperSport has made in the country towards promoting local sports. We are extremely proud of him.”
Auka added that SuperSport will continue to invest in the local leagues to promote more talent like that of Wanyama. “In the last 21 years, we have been at the forefront in helping boost various sports including football, athletics and golf among others and we hope that our contribution will encourage many young upcoming sportsmen and women, and more so now that Wanyama will be at the forefront of engaging them through our Let’s Play football campaign.”
