SuperSport and MultiChoice in Sh 1. 5 Million boost to SOYA awards.
For the eighth year in a row, SuperSport and MultiChoice have announced a Sh1.5 million boost to this year’s Safaricom Sports Personality of the Year Awards (Soya) in sponsorship.
The deal will see organisers for the gala night receive Sh1.5 million in cash.
“SuperSport has also committed to assist with pre-production work on behalf of Soya and will also provide nomination videos. We will also produce a highlights program of the gala that will be available on SuperSport channels a week after the Awards ceremony,” said SuperSport East Africa General Manger, Auka Gecheo.
Speaking during the presentation in Nairobi, Auka reassured the event organisers of their commitment to promote sports in the country and throughout the continent.
“Over the years, MultiChoice has actively identified, invested in and supported the development of sports initiatives into marketable sports propositions. We have cumulatively invested upto $24.3 million in local content production and licenses – and continue to give as much as possible to promote the local sports sector,” Auka added.
In his remarks, event patron and former World marathon record holder Paul Tergat outlined that the sponsorship boost was timely for both parties.
“As Soya celebrates its 12th edition this year, we continues to appreciate the partnership with SuperSport and MultiChoice, and greatly appreciates their contribution to the local sports talent. DStv through their various partnerships with local leagues has greatly contributed to the promotion of Kenya's sports personalities, especially the youth at both the national and global arena,” he underscored.
