As the SportPesa Premier League nears the season's end, don't miss the defining match between Gor Mahia and SonySugar on Wednesday 16 September at 19:00 on SS9E.
Kiongera was awarded with a Kshs 10 000 cash prize and a personalised trophy courtesy of Soka, SuperSport and the Kenyan Premier League (KPL).
Kiongera thanked all the fans for their support and promised to work even harder.
“This award means so much to me and to my club, KCB, as well. It means the fans appreciate my talent and I’ll now have to work harder,” he said,
“It also means that we have good players at the club because I wouldn’t have won it as an individual, it all about team work,” he added.
KCB is 14th in the SPL log but Kiongera believes the team can avoid relegation.
“We have faith as team that things will work out for us. We have very good players and I believe we will remain in the top-tier, that is what everyone is hoping for,” he added.
The KCB talisman will be the fourth player to win it after Gor Mahia’s Victor Ali Abondo, Jacob Keli, formerly of AFC Leopards and Bernard Mangoli of AFC Leopards.
