The tournament kicks off countrywide
GOtv and SuperSport have announced an exclusive sponsorship of the GOtv Shield for the 5th year running, promising subscribers great football action. The GOtv shield, formerly named FKF President’s Cup, is the longest running local football tournament and has grown to become a largely popular, country-wide tourney.
64 teams drawn from all over the country will battle it out for the Sh2 Million cash prize for the top team. The second-placed team will walk away with a cash reward of Sh750,000 while the third placed team will win a cash prize of Sh500,000. Besides the cash prize, the winning team will represent the country in next year’s CAF Confederations Cup.
While making the announcement at a press conference, SuperSport East Africa, General Manager Auka Gecheo said: “Today we are very happy to once again demonstrate our commitment and loyalty to local football and Kenya. We take pride in continuous sponsorships of the GOtv Shield, which helps to showcase our local skills and talent. Football brings people together and we are happy to be a part of some of the experiences that matter most to our customers. The GOtv shield promises good quality entertainment, and just like every year we know there will be interesting games to look forward to in the upcoming GOtv Shield tournament.”
GOtv Kenya General Manager Simon Kariithi said since the inception of the sponsorship in July 2013, the tournament has received an overwhelming response from the players, fans and subscribers.

The sponsorship of the GOtv Shield only reaffirms our commitment towards helping to grow Kenya’s people into vibrant, economic powerhouses. The GOtv Shield matches begin on July 24, 2017and will run until October 20 when the final game will be played. The GOtv Shield will be broadcast on SuperSport 8 (208) on DStv.
