14 new centers commissioned in Ghana
On the 16th of October 2015, MultiChoice Ghana and the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service commissioned 14 schools across Ghana as Multichoice Resource Centers.The addition of the 14 schools to the already existing 74 schools, bring the total to 88 across the country.
The selected schools were presented with DStv Explora decoders, 32 Inch Smart TV’s and free subscription to the DStv Education Bouquet. On the same day, two teachers from each of the schools were trained maximize the use the equipment handed over to them, to augment their classes
The beneficiary schools were Christ the King Catholic SHS, Notre Dame Girls SHS, Obiri Yeboah SHS, Presbyterian Senior High Tech, St Mary's SHS, Accra, Tamale Senior High, Sandema Senior High Technical, Nkonya Senior High School, Bonzo-Kaku Secondary Technical, Anum Anglican Primary, National Science Resource Centre, Shama High School, Oguaa Football for Hope Centre and Jirapa SHS.
In attendance at the event, were the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education, Honorable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, representatives from the Ministry of Education; including the Director General of the Ghana Education Service, Director of the GES LADMA assembly, Directors of the Secondary Division, Science Education, Basic Education and Mrs. Georgina Quaisie an educationist and former director of the Science Education Unit.
The company also supports The Spelling Bee, an initiative of Young Educators Foundation, a local NGO dedicated to children’s education in Ghana. The sponsorship covers registration, training and studying, vocabulary testing and oral spelling and provision of learning materials for students from schools interested in taking part.
