Hugh Jackman thinks Nicole Kidman has done a great job protecting herself from skin cancer.
The 46-year-old actor and his 47-year-old actress colleague both grew up in Australia and they starred together in the 2008 movie entitled Australia.
Hugh has had four skin cancers removed in the past 18 months and in light of his health issues, he believes Nicole was wise to protect herself from the sun.
"People like Nicole Kidman have done a great job," he told People magazine of his friend. "Nicole told me when she was a kid she used to be made fun of all the time in Australia because she used to stay in the shade and she had whiter skin. And no one is making fun of her now."
Hugh thinks standards of beauty are changing. He doesn’t believe being tanned is as sought after as it was in the past.
"I'm really heartened to see in general the idea that to be sexy and beautiful you have to be tan is gone," he noted. "Nicole has the most beautiful skin."
Hugh admits he never wore sunscreen growing up, which is potentially why the star has been diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma on so many occasions.
He thinks it’s important for adults in hot climates all over the world to go get a skin cancer screening with their doctor.
"And in Hollywood, you are old after 25, so that means anyone who is over the age of 25 should get a check up,” Hugh smiled.
