Star Network’s premium Hindi and Tamil channels will be available on the DStv Indian package this October.

Indian television viewers are in for a big Diwali treat as Star Network will be launching two new premium channels on the new DStv Indian packages in October.

The launch forms part of a collaboration between Star Network, a wholly owned subsidiary of 21st Century Fox and MultiChoice Africa.

With the huge demand for quality Indian channels in this market from both the North and South Indian communities, the Star’s Network’s premium Hindi and Tamil channels will showcase flagship content rated No.1 in India and the UK and offer a stellar line-up of India’s best programming to viewers.

The channels will go live on Thursday 15 October on DStv channel number 453 (Hindi channel) and channel 455 (Tamil channel) with a promotional window of 45 days. From Tuesday 1 December 2015, viewers in Southern Africa can watch Star Plus exclusively on the DStv North Indian package and Vijay on the DStv South Indian package.

This launch represents Star Network’s biggest launch in Southern Africa while also strengthening MultiChoice Africa’s current offering of premium Indian content for the vast North and South Indian communities.

The President of Star International, Gurjeev Singh Kapoor, said: “The carriage deal with MultiChoice reflects Star Network’s continued commitment to expand our channel offering to viewers worldwide. We are very pleased with our decision to make our premium Hindi and Tamil channels available to viewers in Southern Africa and look forward to a continued long-term relationship with MultiChoice.”
