It’s women’s month on DStv and my, oh my we are spoilt for choice.
There are so many beautiful women running DStv’s world; they feature on food shows, dramas, fashion shows and more. They are award-winning actresses and TV hosts – high achievers. We can’t say enough about why it is great that this month is about celebrating women.
Coming up with only five top women from our list and that of the celebrities we talked to was hard but here we go:
Kenyan musician and music marketer Andrew Wambua says of Nene, “She has an enviable go-getter attitude and good style.” We approve that statement, I mean what’s not to love about Nene? Plus she never shies away from drama. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star (show airs Fridays at 20:30 on VUZU (116)) is also a guest host on Fashion Police E! Entertainment (124). She is hilarious and always speaks her mind. This is a rare quality that only few actresses in her league can achieve. Only Wendy Williams, who is on weekdays at 19:00 on BET (129), can go head-to-head with her.
She’s one of America’s most talented artists. An actress, author, fashion designer, dancer, producer and singer; we know J-Lo as a hustler. She was first spotted dancing in Janet Jackson’s That’s The Way Love Goes. Since then, she has gone on to dating celebrities like P Diddy. She has married and divorced a couple of Hollywood stars including Marc Anthony. We love her because she always bounces back, emotionally and career-wise. She is now on DStv’s Shades of Blue, Express from the US, which airs Fridays at midnight (also available on DStv Catch Up). In the series, Jen plays a good-natured corrupt cop alongside Ray Liotta.
Kim Kardashian West
She comes from the Kardashian family of royalty and got married to the rapper Kanye West a few years ago. She had made her way from a socialite and an assistant to Paris Hilton to becoming a self-made media mogul. Starring in Keeping Up with the Kardashians, she has remained an instrumental driver in Kanye West’s new career and drive. Watch her and her family on Sundays at 22:00 on E! Entertainment (124). (Also available on DStv Catch Up)
So many celebrities love Mrs Dwyane Wade for her amazing sense of style, perseverance and character as she plays Mary Jane on BET’s (129) Being Mary Jane. “She is hot, smart and delicate,” Kenyan musician and producer Kagwe Mungai says of Gabrielle, “I also love Tia Mowry but my style is drama and I think Mary Jane kills it always.” Catch Tia Mowry at Home every Thursday at 21:00 on Food Network (175).
Nomuzi aka Moozlie
The South African starlet is one of the youngest VJs at MTV Base (322). What many don’t know about her is that she also has a career in music—she’s a rapper too! Signed to South Africa’s Cashtime Life, she has featured in songs like the all-star single by DJ Vigilante, Pasop. Chimano of Sauti Sol is a personal friend of hers and has worked alongside her during the MTV MAMAs Afterparty Nairobi edition in 2015. He says, “She is approachable. She is stylish and she always knows what to say. She is very seamless.”
The Indian film actress, singer, producer and philanthropist is the first Asian woman to headline an American network series. Before getting into TV and showbiz, she won the Miss World Pageant in 2000. We love her because she has managed to become a bigger star beyond Bollywood. Starring in films like Kaminey, Dil Dhadakne and Bajirao, Chopra is now starring as Alex Parrish on Express from the US drama Quantico. She returns to our screens on Monday 7 March at 20:30 on VUZU AMP (114).
For more amazing women and to celebrate them, tune into DStv all month long.
