DStv dishes out comedy like no other, come laugh with us.
We’ve all been subjected to those jokes that try to force a laugh out of us but all we do is shake our heads. Well, no more mediocre comedy if you’ve got DStv. Are you ready for some giggles and belly laughs? We are warning you though, grab some tissues, for when you laugh so hard you have to cry.
1. Team Monica
Friends is a classic sitcom, unrivalled but its influences can be seen in shows like How I met your Mother which airs on Comedy Central, Tuesdays at 21:15. Even though it’s a decade old, Friends makes you laugh so hard, no matter how many times you watch it. And Joey's signature pick-up line: 'How you doin'? is just the best. Join Team Monica in their favourite hangout on Tuesdays at 17:20 on Comedy Central.
2. It's get Shameless
Frank Gallagher is a father who is always in a drunk stupor leaving his six kids to fend for themselves, offering no apologies. Now that's Shameless. But we won't judge you if you can't contain your giggles, we are right there with you. Come to think of it, dysfunctional families make for good television comedy. Shameless airs Tuesdays at 21:00 on M-City.
3. Husbands wanted...anyone
Three friends on a quest to find husbands in the city is a plotline that stands just well on its own. Add some comedy and awkward romantic situations, and How to Find a Husband transforms into the kind of rom-com that you’d watch to lift up your spirits. Catch it every Tuesday at 22:00 on Maisha Magic.
4. Sheldon is at it again
“Interesting. You are afraid of insects and women. Ladybugs must render you catatonic.” Typical Sheldon Cooper sarcasm, the boon of The Big Bang Theory's existence. Whoever thought that four science nerds obsessed with Star Wars would make such a hilarious ensemble? If you want more, catch up with the boys and their delightful neighbour on Wednesdays at 19:00 on Comedy Central.
5. It runs in the family
You've met the Gallaghers in Shameless, but have you met the Pritchetts, an all encompassing American Modern Family who have never been reserved about speaking their minds, and as a result getting us all worked up with some delightful humour. And Jay Prichett is one of a kind. Ready to get tickled, watch Modern Family on Wednesdays at 19:30 on M-Net.
6. Naughty Helen
Jara often dishes some comedy moments especially with the quirky chemistry between Uti and Helen Paul. And have you seen Helen try to rap or make those really awkward facial expressions? Join this duo on Wednesdays 21:00 on AfricaMagic (114).
7. Explain yourself Jane
Jane the Virgin infuses drama with comedy to deliver a Golden Globe worthy performance that is as funny as it is dramatic. Wrongly inseminated, Jane Villanueva has to explain to her strictly Catholic family why she's pregnant and yet she is a virgin! This is a must watch, don't miss it on Wednesdays at 19:30 on Vuzu Amp.
8. Mr Johnson, get a grip
Dre Johnson feels his family has been assimilated, or should we say have become Black-ish. And it is upon him as a successful black man to steer his family back to their roots and identity. But he does something no one was expecting, he dresses his son in complete African regalia and performs an African rites of passage ceremony. This guy Dre Johnson! Catch his funny escapades, Saturdays at 18:00 on Vuzu Amp.
