The cast of Scream Queens S1.

New comedy-horror Scream Queens premieres on DStv's FOX Channel 125.

Scream Queens, one of the most anticipated shows of 2015, will premiere on FOX (DStv channel 125) on Wednesday 23 September at 21:10, just a day before another FOX hit, Empire, debuts its second season on Thursday 24 September at 21:10.

With a cast of muscians including Lea Michelle, Ariana Grande and Nick Jonas and helmed by the trio that created Glee, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Scream Queens is a musical. But there shall be no singing in this horror-comedy, only a lot of scaring, screaming and giggling.

Bloody and funny - that is the best description of Scream Queens, which seems to combine the comical side of Glee and the bloody mess of American Horror Story.

Sororities are a dangerous place to live in and Scream Queens does its best to prove that by unleashing a mysterious killer in a red devil’s suit whose only hobby is to increase the body count at the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority. It will be a real puzzle trying to unravel the identity of the real killer, which makes this show even more thrilling.

But, here's an introduction to the star-studded cast that will carry on the 15 hour-long episodes of suspense, mystery and humour.

Lea Michelle as Hester “Neckbrace” Ulrich

As a neckbrace-wearing sorority newbie, Hester is an underdog struggling to fit in to the glamourized life of the Kappa sorority. It’s a role that won’t be too difficult for Lea to embrace since she played the less popular but talented Rachel Berry in Glee - except this time, she won’t be belting out any Britney Spears number.

Emma Roberts as Chanel Oberlin

Chanel is the president of Kappa sorority, a Regina George character often flanked by her minions whom she names after her because she is too self-absorbed to learn their real names. Meet Chanel #2 (Ariana Grande), Chanel #3 (Billie Lourd) and Chanel #5 (Abigail Breslin).

Keke Palmer as Zayday Williams

Williams is the strong-headed Kappa sorority newbie - she definitely won’t be taking any nonsense from Chanel. Also look out for her roommate, the quintessential girl-next-door Grace Gardner played by Skyler Samuels.

Ariana Grande as Chanel #2

Arianators will be thrilled to see Ariana Grande in a more mature role than her character in Sam and Cat, even if only as a minion to the egotistic Chanel.

Jamie Lee Curtis as Cathy Munsch

Popular for her Halloween movies, Curtis fits perfectly into the Scream Queens universe as the University’s dean who declares war on the Kappa sorority.

Nick Jonas as Boone

Taking on the role of a preppy and mysterious frat boy, Boone, Nick proves once again why he’s the most successful Jonas brother (and we all thought it would be Joe Jonas).

Chad Michael Murray will also make an appearance as Brad Radwell whom we all hope will be as charming as Lucas Scott - his One Tree Hill character.

Other stars we are grateful to be added to the cast are Spanish hunk Diego Boneta (Pretty Little Liars and 90210) and Patrick Schwarzenegger.

Tune in to Scream Queens on Wednesday 23 September at 20:10 on FOX.
