This July, DStv comes bearing gifts, from the much-anticipated face-off between the Mother of Dragons and Queen Cersei in the brand new Game of Thrones S7 to Suits season seven, both premiering on M-Net East HD (102).
Not to be left behind in this new and exciting line-up is Maisha Magic East (Ch 158) that serves up three original local productions - Jela 5-Star, Pambio Live and The Turn Up as soon as we hit July. We are definitely #locoaboutlocal.
What can we expect from these new local shows?
1. Jela 5-Star
There's more that is expected of a woman running a male correctional facility just like Madam Melba in Jela 5-Star. She exersises a strong hand but is caring at the same time and often has to deal with the bully Kasoro who is also her deputy. That is just a taste of what this new show on Maisha Magic East is all about - the relationships and the run-ins of the prisoners and the people in charge, obviously with humorous consequences. As the cast promise, "it's a comedy like no other." Tune in to Jela 5-Star as it premieres on Monday 3 July at 20:30 EAT. Jail has never been this funny!
2. The Turn Up
The Turn Up, hosted by TV darling Amina Abdi and DJ Joe Mfalme, turns up the heat in the cold month of July. The Turn Up is a 2-hour live show (with an audience) that will showcase the club and the party experience and the rich music culture of East Africa. As DJ Joe says, this is the hottest countdown in East Africa, tune in as it premieres on Saturday 1 July at 12:00 EAT.
3. Pambio Live
Gospel music is under revolution and Pambio Live is the show to watch to get your Sunday afternoon going. Hosted by renowned gospel artiste Size 8 and DJ Ruff, Pambio Live which features a live audience will bring you the best of gospel music that are not only meant to uplift the soul but also to engage with the viewers. Pambio Live premieres on Sunday 2 July at 12:00 EAT. As the youngings say "gospel is about to be lit!"
