Game of Thrones S7 poster

17.07.17. As far as Game of Thrones fans are concerned, this is the most important date in 2017. If you are getting married this year or maybe planning something grand in your life like skydiving, there, there, Game of Thrones season 7 still takes precedence (sips Cersei’s wine).

Don't miss Game of Thrones S7 premiere on Monday 17 July at 22:30 EAT on M-Net (102).

You will also be able to stream Game of Thrones live on M-Net on DStv Now.

There is so much more to look forward to with the impending premiere because the rumourmills and fantheories have done a brilliant job at feeding us information. But as we have recently found out from Jon Snow’s Kit Harrington, HBO may have faked some scenes to mislead fans. Well, that is just mean. Boo to the people who came up with that genius idea.

Away from the fake scenes, here are a few important details we already know about the seventh season of Game of Thrones because #WinterIsHere and the war is also here:

1. It is the penultimate season

This means that the show will wrap up everything after season 8. I don’t know about you but I’ll definitely miss Lyanna Mormont, Brienne of Tarth and Olenna Tyrell more than any other cast member. While we are on the subject of season 8, Dany's Emilia Clarke has confirmed that after season 8, she will be done with the show and will not appear in the any of thr rumoured spin-offs

2. It will be only seven episodes

However there is no reason to feel disappointed because of the fewer episodes. As it has been revealed, the episodes will be longer than usual, for instance, the premiere episode of season 7 will be 59 minutes with the longest being episode 7 at 81 minutes.

3. Daenerys Targaryen captures Dragonstone

From what we have seen from the two trailers released by HBO, the Mother of Dragons will make her entry to Westeros first by capturing her homeland – Dragonstone in the first episode which is also titled Dragonstone. This means that for the first time since the show's premiere, Dany will cross paths with most of her fellow main cast members. Whether Jon Snow will be one of them, we are yet to find out.

4. Jon meets Dany

Of course this is the biggest fan theory of them all and one that has a 99.9% likely chance of happening given that the war is here and these two might just need each other.

5. Littlefinger is still a creep

We know he is still whispering things in Sansa’s ear. She's a child, you creep!

6. Bran returns to Winterfell

The Three-Eyed Raven has been quite a pilgrim travelling back in time, running away from White Walkers and being chauffered around bu Meera Reed. In S7, he is back in Winterfell for the long-awaited Stark-reunion and of course to shed some light on the past. After all, he's the only one who knows Jon is a Targaryen and not the Bastard of Winterfell after all.

7. Power struggle between Jon and Sansa

This is inevitable as Sansa didn’t look so happy in the season 6 finale when everyone chanted “King in the North!” to Jon Snow. We can’t wait to see what kind of damage this will do to their relationship. Again, that old prick Littlefinger.

8. A villain badder than Ramsay Bolton

And his name is Euron Greyjoy aka Theon’s mad uncle who may or may not face-off with Daenerys. I wonder how he can be worse than a man who flayed people as a hobby. Then again, he has a reputation for being insane and has been described to have a “resting maniac face” so let’s wait and see.

9. Missandei and Grey Worm

Issa relationship guys, if Missandei ripping Grey Worm’s clothes in the trailer is anything to go by. Boy, have we waited so long for this to develop into something worth rooting for.

10. Ed Sheeran makes his debut

Yes, the English singer-songwriter will make a cameo in Game of Thrones although he's revealed his part "isn't that exciting." No ladies, he doesn't get to sing Shape of You.
