2. Now You Know- Nyashinski

When you take a 15 year sabbatical from the music industry either two things can happen. You call it a life and move on or you turn life lemons and your long absence into a comeback and a half. This is what exactly Nyashinski did. He came with bang as there are many options to choose from. Now You Know however rubs everyone the right way.  Will it be the video of the year?

3. Njogereza- Navio

Njogereza by Navio surely too the crown when it comes to Uganda’s music scene. With the full Ugandan traditional chanting and instrumentation. It has a cute story of how courtship is the whole nine yard in African society. Whether or not he gets the bride at the end, this song puts Navio on a pedestal as he already has that street cred covered! We wonder if that advantage will work for him in this here battle.

4. Salome- Diamond

When Diamond and Rayvanny meet, there is magic. This year they decided to remake Salome which was originally done perfectly by Saida. Tanzanian comrades please come explain this part: Tukimbizane nini salome wangu? Iyo michezo ya jogoo.Mbona watizama chini salome wangu. Ukimuona jongoo. Inama kidogo shika magoti. Nimesimama kama ngongoti. The reason this video features on this battle is simply because there is no happening party that does not keep this song on rotation.

5. Bank Otuch- Vicmass Luodollar

The classic rags to riches story is how Bank Otuch came about. The song was inspired by his struggle to live a good life taking care of his siblings and parents while hawking snacks in the Kibera slums. Fast forward a few years later and Bank Otuch has come to stand for money overflowing in the bank. Vicmass Luodollar says Pesa Otas! What do you say to this song?

6. Unconditionally Bae- Ali Kiba and Sauti Sol

It should be illegal to have so much eye candy and swag in one video. That is exactly what happened when Tanzanian star Alikiba hooked up with Kenya’s favourite boy band Sauti Sol. The video was shot at breathtakingly beautiful English Point Marina which adds to the already awesome aesthetics of the boys sans their shirts. Are they the video of the year though?
