When something strange or inexplicable happens, there is probably a mischievous Yo-Kai behind it.

This July, Cartoon Network (301) is excited to announce the arrival of a brand new series called Yo-kai Watch, which will hit African shores on Monday 18 July.

The successful cartoon, which was inspired by a video game, appeared in 2013 for the first time in Japan and became one of the most popular shows among children aged four to 12 in less than two years, making it one of the most successful cartoons ever screened on the Asian continent.

Yo-kai Watch follows the adventures of an average fifth-grade kid named Nathan Adams, who comes across a strange old capsule vending machine in the mountains. He puts in a coin and opens a sealed rock capsule that reveals a Yo-kai named Whisper.

Whisper, a self-proclaimed “Yo-kai butler,” gives Nathan a Yo-kai Watch that lets him see hidden Yo-kai all over the world. Once he befriends a Yo-kai, they give Nathan a Yo-kai medal that he can use to summon the Yo-kai whenever he needs help. Nate soon finds himself calling upon his Yo-kai friends, which resemble anything from inanimate objects to mythical creatures, to solve life’s everyday problems.

With an original plot, strong characters and a colourful universe, Yo-kai Watch has it all when it comes to great children’s entertainment.

The show is action-packed with lots of fun and excitement that will keep children on the edge of their seats.

All Cartoon Network fans should get ready to tune in to the action-packed adventure show starting Monday 18 July at 18:30.
