TLC in association with Colgate Optic White has announced 22-year-old Sade Wagner as the ninth semi-finalist making it through to the next stage of the TLC Next Great Presenter search. The Pietermaritzburg-born actress secured her spot in the “Lucky 13” from more than 1 500 auditions received from across the continent.
Having entered the competition last year and falling short, Sade says she needed to give it another shot. “I’m an opportunist – when an opportunity comes along, I will take it on,” explains Sade. ”I realised that I wouldn’t have been ready had I gone through last year. However, this year I told myself that if the opportunity didn't come again, then I would be willing to show up outside the TLC studios and recite my script to anyone willing to listen,” she continued.
This determined contestant explains that she has chosen not to be satisfied with second best and never to accept failure as the end. She believes that this is her competition to win and that she’s ready to be the absolute best version of herself.
Now, all roads lead to Cape Town for Boot Camp, as Sade along with 12 contestants from all over Africa aim to turn their 90-second video audition into their dream job. During the four-day Boot Camp, they will be put through their presenting paces by the judges and industry experts as they undertake screen tests, performance coaching, fashion styling, as well as brand and media training to see who really has what it takes to be a host on Africa’s #1 lifestyle and entertainment channel.
It will be down to the star-studded line-up of expert judges to choose the Top 3 finalists at Boot Camp, which includes; radio and TV personality Thando Thabethe, Head of Content at MultiChoice Aletta Alberts, editor of ZAlebs.com Zee Dladla, celebrity publicist and communications strategist Jarred Doyle and VP of Channels for Discovery Networks CEEMEA Lee Hobbs.
Then, in the end it will be up to the TLC audience to decide who should be crowned the winner and travel to London to film the brand new series, TLC’s Most Extreme coming to TLC Entertainment (135) in 2017. The winner will also feature in a special once off documentary and win a luxury holiday for two courtesy of Sun International.
“I'm ready to learn! I'm going to absorb everything that is made available to me. I'm excited that this boot camp is going to equip me with media training and performance coaching to compliment my performance and personal brand. At boot camp, we’ll be learning from the best in the business and I'm going to take advantage of that,” says Sade.
To find out who else made it through to the Top 13, look out for the daily semi-finalist reveal on TLC Entertainment (135) and the TLC Next Great Presenter website continuing until Monday 19 September.
