Mikaela Oosthuizen - finalist in the TLC Next Great Presenter search

TLC, in association with Colgate Optic White, has announced 20-year-old Mikaela Oosthuizen as the sixth semi-finalist making it through to the next stage of the TLC Next Great Presenter search. Hailing from Port Elizabeth, South Africa, the third year Media Communications & Culture student secured her spot in the “Lucky 13” from more than 1 500 auditions received from across the continent.

With extensive experience in television, radio, modelling and acting Mikaela believes her sincere and welcoming personality is what will set her apart from her fellow contestants “I feel so honoured to be a part of the TLC family and cannot wait to grow under the guidance of the entertainment specialists. I’m so excited to be given the opportunity to be on screen and prove why I deserve to be TLC’s Next Great Presenter,” says Mikaela.

This ambitious young lady has never let her young age deter her from pursuing her dreams. From attaining one of the highest monetary academic university scholarships in the country, to being crowned the youngest Miss SA Teen at the age of 14, Mikaela has no desire to slow down.

Now, all roads lead to Cape Town for Boot Camp, as Mikaela along with 12 contestants from all over Africa aim to turn their 90-second video audition into their dream job. During the four-day Boot Camp, they will be put through their presenting paces by the judges and industry experts as they undertake screen tests, performance coaching, fashion styling, as well as brand and media training to see who really has what it takes to be a host on Africa’s #1 lifestyle and entertainment channel.

At Boot Camp, it will be down to the star-studded line-up of experts which includes; radio and TV personality Thando Thabethe, Head of Content at MultiChoice Aletta Alberts, editor of ZAlebs.com Zee Dladla, celebrity publicist and communications strategist Jarred Doyle and VP of Channels for Discovery Networks CEEMEA Lee Hobbs to choose the Top 3 finalists.

Then, in the end it will be up to the TLC audience to decide who should be crowned the winner and travel to London to film the brand new series, TLC’s Most Extreme coming to TLC Entertainment (135) in 2017. The winner will also feature in a special once off documentary and win a luxury holiday for two courtesy of Sun International.

To find out who else made it through to the Top 13, look out for the daily semi-finalist reveal on TLC Entertainment (135) and the TLC Next Great Presenter website continuing until Monday 19 September.
