Nozipho Mbhele - finalist in the TLC Next Great Presenter search

TLC in association with Colgate Optic White has announced Nozipho Mbhele as the seventh semi-finalist making it through to the next stage of the TLC Next Great Presenter search. The 23-year-old from Johannesburg, South Africa, secured her spot in the “Lucky 13” from more than 1 500 auditions received from across the continent.

Nozipho discovered her passion for TV and radio presenting in university whilst studying drama. She has gone on to present a show on Radio DUT (her campus radio station) and even MC'ing some university and community events.

“Being chosen feels very exciting and unreal, I'm very happy and humbled to have made it this far,” says Nozipho. “TLC celebrates everything that I'm passionate about and that I stand for, so for me this is way more than just an amazing TV presenting opportunity,” she continued.

The bubbly and driven student explains that she believes she has what it takes to be TLC’s Next Great Presenter. “I live and breathe TV presenting! I've dedicated my whole life to grow and sharpen my craft. I'm energetic, fun and hardworking and I believe that's what it takes,” she said.

Now, all roads lead to Cape Town for Boot Camp, as Nozipho along with 12 contestants from all over Africa aim to turn their 90-second video audition into their dream job. During the four-day Boot Camp, they will be put through their presenting paces by the judges and industry experts as they undertake screen tests, performance coaching, fashion styling, and brand and media training to see who really has what it takes to be a host on Africa’s #1 lifestyle and entertainment channel.

It will be down to the star-studded line-up of expert judges to choose the Top 3 finalists at Boot Camp, which includes; radio and TV personality Thando Thabethe, Head of Content at MultiChoice Aletta Alberts, editor of Zee Dladla, celebrity publicist and communications strategist Jarred Doyle and VP of Channels for Discovery Networks CEEMEA Lee Hobbs.

Then, in the end it will be up to the TLC audience to decide who should be crowned the winner and travel to London to film the brand new series, TLC’s Most Extreme coming to TLC Entertainment (135) in 2017. The winner will also feature in a special once off documentary and win a luxury holiday for two courtesy of Sun International.

To find out who else made it through to the Top 13, look out for the daily semi-finalist reveal on TLC Entertainment (135) and the TLC Next Great Presenter website continuing until Monday 19 September.
