Adapted from the Emmy-nominated series Web Therapy, which was created by Lisa Kudrow (Friends), Dan Bucatinsky and Don Roos, Hang Ups features a stellar cast including Richard E. Grant, Jessica Hynes, David Tennant, Katherine Parkinson, Sarah Hadland, Karl Theobald, Celia Imrie, Paul Ritter, Charles Dance, Monica Dolan and Harry Lloyd.
Mangan said: “At the start of the series, we join my character on the first day of his new venture. He’s working from home, and he’s giving therapy via online video calls, to new clients and old clients of his. But what’s almost more difficult for him is that he’s made a catastrophic decision to borrow money off somebody when his last venture failed, so that is coming back to haunt him. He’s got a house full of teenage kids who all want his attention, he’s got a supervisor on his back, his parents are causing him problems, as are his siblings. He’s got a mountain of problems of his own, and he’s trying to stay calm and help his patients deal with their problems at the same time.”
