Here’s a selection of series and movies to watch on DStv and DStv Catch Up Plus with some of our most beloved TV and movie dads.
The Big Bang Theory
It’s been fun to see Howard get the hang of being a parent of two. With Halley growing up, there’s been lots of sleepless nights for him as he’s adjusting to their newborn Neil, and making decisions on maybe giving up his day job to be a full time, stay-at-home dad. Watch Howard and his group of friends, Wednesdays at 19:00 on M-Net.
Andre Johnson is a loving dad of five, and watching him and the Johnson clan has been fun. Seeing them deal with everyday problems and Dre and his wife Rainbow needing to shift some of their thinking, as their kids grow up in a new world. The black-ish box set is available on DStv Catch Up Plus.
You can also see Andre Johnson, when he checks in on his favourite child Zoey, in the spin-off, grown-ish (Thursdays at 19:30 on 1Magic).
The Lion King
Not able to teach his son Simba all the life-lessons he may need to rule over their kingdom, a family feud cut Mufasa's life short. For the entire family to enjoy, watch The Lion King on Saturday, 16 June at 18:30 on M-Net Movies All Stars.
A star-studded romance movie following interconnecting stories of love found and love lost. Our favourite story line is of Daniel (portrayed by Liam Neeson), trying to come to terms with his wife's passing and raising his stepson Sam (portrayed by Thomas Sangster), who falls in love. Watch this classic on Saturday, 16 June at 20:00 on TCM.
Father of the Bride
A true classic, Father of the Bride and its sequel Father of the Bride II is on Universal TV back-to-back from 18:15 on Sunday, 17 June. Tune in for all the hilarious moments and see how George Banks deals with his baby girl getting married, moving away from home, and fighting the years as he becomes a grandfather for the first time.
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air
One of our favourite TV dads of all time is Uncle Phil! Raising his kids and nephew in an ever changing world has its ups and downs, but in the Banks household, there’s always a lesson, for young and old. Relive the magical moments with this hit TV series, weeknights at 20:00 on BET.
Our Family Wedding
Will the wedding take place, when the father of the bride and father of the groom come to blows? With their feud, it seems the happily ever after for Lucia (portrayed by America Ferrera) and Marcus (Lance Gross), is not guaranted. Watch this star-studded romantic comedy on Tuesday, 19 June at 19:00 on M-Net Movies Smile.
Nothing quite pulls on our heart-strings as much as Armageddon, and the ultimate sacrifice a father can make. Harry and his trusty team of drillers are sent on a mission to save the planet from an asteroid. Harry (Bruce Willis), not a fan of his daughter's (Liv Tyler) choice in partner, makes the ultimate sacrifice and gives his blessing in ways one can't imagine. Armageddon, which recently aired on the M-Net Movies Bang Bang Heroes pop-up channel, is available to watch on DStv Catch Up Plus.
Stay connected to DStv and enjoy the best of TV entertainment from series and movies, to cartoons, documentaries and sport for everyone to enjoy.
