Passive aggressive jokes about Rihanna's reluctance to release new music now have a few months left to land.

The Bajan superstar on Sunday surprised fans with a major announcement. After six years of a dry spell for the Navy, Rihanna will be making a splashy return to the stage at the 2023 Superbowl Halftown Show. The new mother shared the news with a post containing her tattoo-adorned hand carrying a football.

The NFL confirmed on Sunday that the 'Work' would take to the stage for the Halftown Show on 12 February 2023.

The announcement comes amid a fair supply of paparazzi shots of the megastar frequenting the recording studio. And while many of them were met with jokes that she would continue to snub her music career in favour of her billion-dollar beauty and fashion empire, her looming Superbowl performance will likely tie with the arrival of new music.

The new mother hasn't released a new album since her 2016 blockbuster hit, Anti.

There's no word on the expected set-list for the highly anticipated return. However, Rihanna boasts 14 #1 hits, which would more than take up the entire 15-minutes she has. Fans have begun wondering whether she intends on bringing out any surprise guest performers.
