The DStv Viewers' Choice awards dominated the South African pop culture landscape this past weekend. The show, which took place at Sun Arena in Pretoria, had the country's biggest stars make grand entrances on the blue carpet with their eye-catching outfits.
The creme of the entertainment industry came out in witness to the honouring of the finest talent in the business, as voted for by Mzansi. And Makhadzi's blockbuster year on the charts saw her return to the stage twice, making her one of the biggest winners of the night.
Makhadzi took home the awards for Song of the Year for her 2021 hit single 'Ghanama', and also triumphed in the Favourite Music Artist or Group category. Elated, the Limpopo native recalled how many times she's had to knock on doors, and beg to perform for free, before reaching her new peak. DJ Shimza sealed his place as one of the most loved DJs the country, and walked away with the Favourite DJ award.
The DStvMVCA also delivered some of the most talked-about moments in music. The likes of Kamo Mphela, Tuks Senganga, Nomfundo Moh and Zakes Bantwini gave electrifying moments that shook the social media streets.
