Is the Kendrick Lamar and J Cole album an impossible dream? The latest updates indirectly hint the cancellation of a joint album. Kendrick Lamar is caught in a new controversy. A website called Freddy Mag gave a shock to Kendrick’s fans by claiming that Kendrick had purchased a gun, which was used by George Zimmerman to kill Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old African-American who was killed in 2012.
Daily News says that Freddy Mag’s report was fake, and it was a trick to fool social media users. Kendrick’s fans are furious over the false allegations, and they are expressing their support to Kendrick on social media. “just so everyone knows, @kendricklamar DID NOT buy George Zimmerman’s gun. Don’t believe everything you hear on the internet,†a Twitter user wrote.
Recently, Kendrick has been hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons. The rapper has been sued for copying music from the 1975 Bill Withers song ‘Don’t You Want to Stay’.
As per the report, Kendrick used the Bill Withers track for his own track “I Do This†without permission. A woman called Sameerah Satterthwaite also asked $200m from the rapper for illegally taking themes from a poem “Revolutionary Womenâ€. According to her, she recited the poem when Kendrick met her in Philadelphia in November 2014. Kendrick has to solve all these issues before turning towards the joint album. Though no one has confirmed the joint album launch, fans are expecting it to arrive this year. “We gonna drop that out the sky, I ain’t gonna give no dates, no nothing. I’m just gonna let it fall,†Lamar had said a long time back.
J Cole had also mentioned once about a project which is believed to be his joint album with Kendrick Lamar. “It’s pride. You have pride in your craft and what you do, but to a certain extent. It’s coming. We already got too many songs. Even if you just get an EP, you gonna get something, but we got sh– that we holding in the stash,†J Cole said in a musical event.
Let us wait and watch!
