The 62nd annual Grammy Awards were set to be a festive night of music, where the best performing musical acts are handed prestigious gongs for their success. While the glitzy event, which will air on Channel O at 19:00 on Wednesday, produced thrilling moments for the culture, it was the tragic death of basketball icon Koby Bryant that ended up being at the centre of this year's show.

Hosted by Alicia Key, who returned to the piloting duties following a triumphant debut last year, the show became a heartfelt tribute to the Bryant, who reportedly died in a helicopter accident with his 13 year old daughter, and seven others who were on the plane.

As part of the tributes, Keys introduced Boys II Men to the stage for a homage performance. Not a tear was dry in the star studded audience.

Billie Eillish proved to be the night's biggest star.

The 18 year scooped no less than five awards at the show, including Record of The Year, Song of the Year, as well as Album of the Year. The newcomer, whose meteoric rise shook the world in 2018, won so many awards than one shot caught her hoping she wouldn't have to collect yet another award. Long story short, her wins led to the likes of Ariana Grande going home empty handed.

Lizzo dazzled with her fashion statements and her soul stirring live performance. She walked away with three awards from her eight nominations.

A night for the new players, Lil Nas X gave his cowboy swag one more run as he collected his first Grammy award. The rapper, who broke records with his Old Town Road hit, also performed alongside Nas and BTS.

To catch all the action, tune in on Channel O on Wednesday, January 29th at 19:00!
