With the alluring smell of new albums dropping and singles being released, the weekend couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s been a tough week and we need a break. But first, pull out your tea cup and let us usher you into your weekend with a wrap up of this week’s sweetest tea.

Just so you know, Drake broke the internet. And all he needed to do was shimmy, shake, do the Nae Nae and mix it up with some stocky salsa twists, all without breaking a sweat. But that’s not to say the ladies couldn’t break a sweat. The brother had us fanning ourselves all over Monday and Tuesday when he dropped the video for Hotline Bling on Apple Music.

The hyped video release by Director X – who also shot Kendrick Lamar’s King Kunta, - caught many by surprise. Not only for it’s light and space references to the artwork of American artist James Turrell, but to it’s obvious similarities to D.R.A.M’s Cha Cha. Still with all these influences, It’s simplicity is seductive.

The single currently sits at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Four years after she ripped our hearts out with blockbuster album 21, this week Adele peaked through the door of musical releases with the video for her new single Hello. With a single tweet she already has us hook, line and sinker with the upcoming release of her new album, aptly titled 25.

She had this to say about the albums set to come out in November; “25 is about getting to know who I’ve become without realizing,” she wrote in an open letter. “And I’m sorry it took so long, but you know, life happened.”.

Meek Mill was at the centre of another spat. No surprises there. This time around, he shrouded MMG stable mate Wale in some shade after the Matrimony hitmaker called him out being no match for Drake. Which, naturally, took the meek out of Meek because there was nothing gentle about his response.

We also remembered fallen SA songbird Lebo Mathosa who left us nine years ago, this week, while our favourite boy outfit Micasa launched the video for their new single Chocolat off their new album Home Sweet Home.

Aweon Wolf and Mashabuqe use their platform for change as they lend their voices and digital democrasy to the inspiring #FeesMustFall student-lead movement.
