South Africa’s sensational rapper, Mthembeni “Emtee” Ndevu reflects on dreams and hard work in his latest mid-tempo single. The rapper releases the song shortly after dropping visuals for his single, Abantu taken from his album, DIY2. The award-winning rapper titled this offering “Smogolo”, a slag word for hard work.

In this surprise single, the 26-year-old features his second-time collaborator, singer and rapper, Snymaan who makes rapping in one’s native language fashionable. Both the artists can relate to the message this track holds as at some point in life they were grinding and hustling together in the Johannesburg streets, not having anything but being patient and waiting for the right time have put them where they are today.

In the song, Emtee shares his struggles and challenges.

“It’s been a long time coming, all my life I’ve been hustling. I don’t chase the bag for nothing, this is for umndeni wami,” a verse in Smogolo.

Fans are set to resonate with this song as it reflects on unemployment and the brawls of making dreams come true. Smogolo restores hopes and dreams, as the rapper says all the hard work shall payoff in the end. With this song, the rapper says it does not matter at what age you achieve your dreams because they are valid, and age can never limit anyone. He added that the song is for all the people who are plotting and scheming in order to attain their heart’s desires.

“We do not mean are not scheming in a fraudulent way but planning and preparing to find yourself somewhere at some point, it is all about progress. This is for the people who are pushing their hustle. We are not bragging about securing the bag but hard work,” said Emtee.

Snymaan and Emtee brought together singing and rapping in the song to make it a masterpiece.
