Channel O: Cava the combo!

31 October 2015
The bug is age old and it’s going around. South Africa’s hottest acts have caught it. It’s called collaboration and, with the fever spreading, it’s pretty clear that more on the plate is sometimes miles more delicious than one.

We’ve picked out a bunch of sizzling collabos that are killing it right now! Here's our take.

The man of the moment, Casper “fill up the dome” Nyovest, Boss Zonke Riky Rick and the vegetarian gone rapper, Anatii, band together in their new trippy joint, FUSEG. With a baseline dripping of gangster swag and video to match, these three kings just make sense together.

On the other end of the ranch, prolific rappers and hip hop heavyweights Reason, AKA and Khuli Chana also let the speakers vibrate with a track that’s teaming with attitude from all three corners. Yipikayay is a jump off number that’s a perfect party starter.

It must be something in the juice but Motswako rap’s latest and baddest, Fifi Cooper, teaming up with mainstays JR and Kwesta gives us another hot track with a quirky name. With a couple of mandatory jabs and disses at Skhanda rap, Putsununu comes at you with that old hip hop grit, glam and snub, just the way we like it.

Skhanda Queen Moozlie shows us that there’s little she can’t do as she joins DJ Speedsta for a cunning combo with loads of cheek. Don’t Panic leads us into the world of a royal rebel with lines like “they're trying touch the queen but they can’t approach this!” Need we say more?

Last, but not by far the least, what do you get when you pour some new age panstula swag into digital maskandi? Shandaraba Ekhelemendeh that’s what! How they manage to marry a killer dub step base line with a muesli mix  of beats, scats and chants is pure genius. We want more!

Now we know there’s many more and we could go on forever, but won't you please tell who your faves are?
