Beyoncé and Solange are both slaying the music game right now. The sisters have a very close relationship and this was evident in the recent interview they did together for Interview magazine. However, there's a twist to the story - in this case, Mrs Carter is the one who interviewed her baby sister.
Speaking to Solange, Beyoncé mentioned that she's happy to interview her, "because, clearly, I'm your biggest fan and I'm super proud of you."
They spoke about everything - from the time they were growing up, to Solange's music career and so much more.
Beyoncé asked her sister about the misconceptions of a strong women, and she replied: "Oh my God, they're endless! [laughs] One thing that I constantly have to fight against is not feeling arrogant when I say I wrote every lyric on this album. I still have not been able to say that. That's the first time I've actually ever said it, because of the challenges that we go through when we celebrate our work and our achievements."
She continued: "I remember Björk saying that she felt like, no matter what stage in her career, if a man is credited on something that she's done, he's going to get the credit for it. And, unfortunately, that still rings true. It's something I've learned so much about from you, getting to be in control of your own narrative. And, at this point, it should be an expectation, not something that you're asking permission for. I feel like I'm getting closer to that, not taking on all the baggage when I have to just stand up for myself and say, 'No, I'm uncomfortable with that'. And I really appreciate you and mom being examples of that, being able to speak about our achievements, these things that deserve to be celebrated, without feeling bashful about it."
The interview was also filled with light-hearted questions, and Solange went on to reveal that she watches "The Real Housewives of Atlanta religiously. "And i'm in stitches the whole time," she told her sister.
Beyoncé also revealed that one of her proudest moments as a sister was when she was able to introduce Solange to her hero, Nas.
And if you're wondering how Beyoncé did as a big sister, Solange revealed: "You did a kickass job. You were the most patient, loving, wonderful sister ever. In the 30 years that we've been together, I think we've only really, like, butted heads ... we can count on one hand."
