South Africa’s first true pop boy band Dey Say are back with their brand-new single ‘Calling For You Ringback’, out 31 October, with the official music video premiering in early November.

Hailing from Johannesburg’s vibrant township of Eldorado Park, Dey Say are redefining what it means to be young, creative, and proudly South African. The four - Chadwell Johnson, Leandre Johnson, Elim Solomons, and Joaquin Jardine - aged between 16 and 20, are connected by brotherhood, harmonies, and a shared dream to bring pop music to the forefront of Africa.

Their story began with a guitar, a few chords, and a dream. Through heartfelt R&B and pop renditions, smooth mashups, and soulful acoustic performances, they’ve cultivated a devoted online community with over 50,000 followers and millions of views on TikTok and Instagram. Their debut single ‘Calling For You,’ released in October 2024, marked a defining moment in their journey, introducing South Africa and the world to a boy band built not by design or reality TV, but by authentic connection, creativity, and shared purpose.

Now, the group steps into an exciting new era with ‘Calling For You Ringback’ (C4U), a reimagined and elevated version of their debut release. The track expands on the original’s emotion and storytelling, drawing listeners into a modern love song that speaks to youthful infatuation and longing. The boys sing about a love interest they can’t get enough of - someone they’re hoping will “call back,” or as they put it, “see me like pronto.” The single’s bridge and chorus are irresistibly catchy, built for singalongs and certain to inspire new dance challenges across TikTok and Instagram.

Musically, C4U is an exciting fusion of global and local influences. The song weaves together pop-forward melodies and R&B harmonies with the rhythmic pulse of Afrobeat and the soulful warmth of Afro-soul. The result is a sound that celebrates Dey Say’s South African roots while reflecting their global pop aspirations. The group’s unique sound gives rise to the genre A-POP (African Pop). A-POP draws inspiration from the world’s most iconic boy-band movements like K-Pop and C-Pop, blending their polished global sensibility with an unmistakable Mzansi flavour. It’s a sound that feels entirely new yet deeply rooted in the energy and creativity of Africa’s youth.

“We’ve grown so much since ‘Calling For You,’” says Dey Say. “With this Ringback version, we’re showing you who we really are - young, creative, proudly South African, and ready to bring pop to our continent.”

Currently in studio - the boys are wrapping up their debut EP, which is scheduled for release in early 2026, featuring exciting collaborations that further explore their signature A-POP sound. ‘Calling For You Ringback’ drops this Friday, 31 October 2025 on all major streaming platforms.

Be sure to presave ‘Calling For You Ringback’ now and look out for the music video this November.
