South Africa’s very own global dance queen, Kamo Mphela, has finally dropped the highly-anticipated music video for her viral hit Partii. And true to Kamo’s spirit, it’s bold, full of life, and a celebration of the culture that raised her.
The video takes fans straight into Kiki’s World. A playful, vibrant, and inclusive space where music and dance are more than performance, they’re a way of connecting people. Shot across four unique scenes, Kamo shows every side of her artistry: sharp and precise choreography, sultry and expressive moves, high-energy, and a proudly South African skhothane-inspired sequence that roots the whole video in homegrown culture.
One of the most powerful things about Partii is its inclusivity. Kamo and her team wanted the video to reflect the people she dances for communities from all walks of life. With eighteen dancers on set, choreographers Litchi and Tlhogi fused their contrasting styles into four sequences that feel as diverse as they are unified, proving that dance is a language everyone can speak.
The world of Partii is brought to life through unforgettable moments - Kamo commanding an oversized dining table with her crew, a massive boombox that feels larger than life, and a taxi-filled street scene that grounds the project firmly in South African street culture. Every detail tells a story, showing fans more of the universe Kamo continues to create through her music and visuals.
Speaking on the video, Kamo Mphela shared, “Partii is not just about me , it’s about us. I wanted this video to celebrate where I come from, the dances that shaped me, and the communities that inspire me every single day. Behind the scenes, Kamo took the reins as Executive Producer alongside 1BoyWanda, teaming up with Destiny’s Dream Club, director Lindo Langa, and art director Linda Makhoba to bring her vision to life. The looks were just as striking, with stylists Moyahabo Kganakga and Bonga Mhlongo curating fearless fashion, hairstylists Lazola and Kuhle Ndlovu creating statement hair designs, and makeup artist Loyiso Mange with support from Maybelline ensuring Kamo’s presence matched the power of her performance.
