There is something about village air that turns city boys into motivational speakers for nonsense. Suddenly, they arrive with overconfidence, wandering eyes, and the firm belief that every woman they meet has been waiting for them specifically. Jonas is one of those boys.
City boy, village fever
Jonas comes to Ikot Ndem as part of a news crew filming a documentary. Fresh from the city, loud confidence intact, libido working overtime. From the moment he clocks the village girls, his mind is already made up. His sweet mouth is his superpower. Compliments here, charm there, and the assumption that eventually someone must say yes. At first, it does not work. The women turn him down one after the other. Red flag? Yes. Did Jonas notice? Of course not.
When desire beats common sense
Then suddenly, like a miracle from nowhere, one mysterious woman shows interest. Now, let us pause here. Rejected by many, accepted by one strange woman who appears out of thin air. That should have been Jonas’ cue to run. Instead, blood rushed south and logic clocked out. The woman blindfolds him. Jonas probably thought he was about to star in some experimental romance. She leads him to a strange place and gives him what he later describes as the time of his life.
Congratulations, Jonas. You played yourself.
The Morning after horror
Jonas wakes up and reality hits him hard. Very hard. Or rather, not hard at all. His manhood is gone. Just like that. No explanation. No warning. Just vibes and confusion.
Now our once confident city boy is walking around the village in panic, fear, and deep regret, asking questions nobody wants to answer.
Desperation, but make it spiritual
Jonas does what any man in crisis would do. He tries everything. He begs the Chief Priest. He performs rituals that look more embarrassing than effective. He runs errands for the father of a girl he was previously handsy with. Karma never misses an address. He bathes with strange potions that leave him itching in places he cannot even explain. Still nothing. Then comes the grand finale. Jonas stands half naked at a crossroads, pleading with the gods to restore his missing manhood. The villagers almost mob him. Dignity? Gone. Manhood? Still missing.
So, will Jonas get it back?
At this point, Jonas is deep in village wahala. Some might even say he deserves it. City boy confidence meets ancestral consequences. Will he ever recover what he lost? Or will this village lesson follow him forever? Find out in Daughters of Water, showing Mondays to Wednesdays at 8:30 pm on Africa Magic Showcase.
