There’s renewed hope that Adekunle and Doyin are finally in a place to hash things out, hang up their long-standing differences and at last, squash their bitter feud. It all comes after the Big Brother Naija Level Up alums broke the ice and confronted the elephant in the room.
Doyin, who has famously lambasted Adekunle over strife that defined their relationship during their season, said that she had misunderstood Adekunle’s intentions. And while Adekunle had already fessed up to Venita that he’d been keeping Doyin at arm’s length, despite her attempts to reach out, the gag order has been lifted.
The emotional moment took place on Tuesday evening. As part of the Aquafina task, the housemates gathered around to say words of affirmation to a housemate they consider a good friend in the House. It is here that Doyin reflected on their strained relationship, and fessed up to having misjudged the situation.
Setting social media streets ablaze with her surprising moment, the stylista gushed about Adekunle’s eloquence, before apologising for her part in their highly-publicised fallout.
“I think this award is very befitting for this man, because when he speaks, he speaks with a good vocabulary”, she said. Adding; “He hardly ever stutters. His communication skills are good that he was able to convinced even the most dogged person, being myself, and finally made me realise that was I thought his intentions were, were really not what they were. And I understood finally that it only came from a place of hurt, and a complete misunderstanding
These words left the Housemates stunned, but Doyin was not done. “Because of this, I can say that I am genuinely sorry for the words that I used, from the bottom of my heart.” It ended with a warm hug.
The heartfelt moment marks a milestone in Adekunle and Doyin’s relationship. Up until then, the pair had been avoiding each other through the season. Their unexpected embrace was met with cheers and applause from their friends, who were shocked at their reconciliation. It was a heartwarming sight that filled the room with a sense of hope and optimism for the future of their friendship.
Adekunle and Doyin's interaction with each other started in the Level Up season, where they shared similar spaces as Level 1 housemates. The two, however, had a fallout during the Level Up reunion, where words were said that caused a deep rift between them.
During the heated exchange, Doyin had described Adekunle as a “trifling human being” who should “should be very much ashamed of himself.
For this reason, the announcement of the former Level Up housemates gagged viewers on social media, who were curious about how they would be navigating the shared space. Tuesday, however, has reignited new possibilities.
