Midway through the season, it’s clear that housemates do not play when it comes to food, and tempers have been flaring since the very first week. This week, with it being a ‘bare minimum’ week and luxuries stripped away, tensions bubbled even more.
So far, six housemates have been crowned Head of House, yet none have managed to curb the ongoing food fights. Instead, the kitchen has turned into a hotspot of drama, with gatekeepers controlling access, heists stirring up wahala, and the whole food situation leaving even the 10/10 housemates on edge.
During one episode in week two, when Tracy assumed the Head of House role, she hoped that implementing a food schedule would keep the peace, but she quickly realised it wasn’t that simple.
Her tenure was dramatically interrupted by a cake clash between Ivatar and Joanna over Denari’s birthday cake. Joanna, tasked with slicing the cake into 29 portions for the housemates, was not pleased when Ivatar helped herself to extra, sparking a sugar-coated showdown.
Meanwhile, Victory’s time as HoH demonstrated just how quickly minor disagreements can escalate under pressure. His reign coincided with a lost wager, and disputes over portions, food distribution, and what should be prepared soon tested everyone’s patience.
Alliances began to form more clearly, with some housemates cooking for their favourites, but scarcity made even these small circles difficult to navigate. A notable example was the sharp exchange between Mide and Zita over food prep.
Mide requested that Zita chop vegetables for a meal she was making for herself and her partner, Danboskid, but Zita, insisting she wasn’t cooking that day, flatly refused in a way that did not sit well with Mide, and an argument ensued.
Even kitchen utensils became points of contention. Faith and Imisi clashed over who had the right to use a pot. He argued that he had cleaned it, but Imisi was already using it when he came knocking, claiming it as his own. Their engagement turned sour, and their friendship crumbled since then.
Irritation over selfish antics pushed tensions even higher. Big Soso, Ibifubara, and Sultana grew especially fed up with a housemate who seemed intent on eating everything in sight, with Big Soso pointing out Kuture as one of the culprits.
Even after they came up with a plan to keep the food situation under control, some housemates went their own way, disregarding the rules and causing more chaos.
Even though the season is only at its midpoint, one thing is clear: in Biggie’s house, food is far more than just nourishment, but it’s a battleground where portions, alliances, and tempers collide daily.
