How to Remove DND So You Can Receive Your Registration OTP
The ‘Do Not Disturb’ (DND) facility gives users control over the promotional messages they receive. While useful for blocking unwanted communications, an active DND can also prevent you from receiving important messages — including your registration OTP — since it restricts communication from third-party providers. If you’re not receiving your OTP, here’s how to check and remove your DND: Step 1: Check your DND status. Text STATUS to 2442. You’ll receive an SMS confirming whether DND is active or inactive on your number. This works across all networks. Step 2: Deactivate DND based on your network If your DND is active, send the appropriate text to 2442 based on your network provider:
- MTN users: Text ALLOW to 2442 to deactivate DND and resume receiving messages.
- Airtel users: Text ALLOW to 2442 to deactivate DND and resume receiving messages.
- Glo/Globacom users: Text CANCEL to 2442 to deactivate DND and resume receiving messages.
- 9Mobile users: Text START to 2442 to deactivate DND and resume receiving messages.
Step 3: Confirm and retry. Once you’ve sent the deactivation text, allow up to 24 hours for the change to take effect. You can text STATUS to 2442 again to confirm your DND has been removed. Then return to the AMVCA voting page to register again.
Note: If you receive a response stating that DND is not active on your number but you’re still not receiving your OTP, please contact your network provider’s customer support for further assistance.
