The Africa Magic Showcase drama series The Split opened with a gripping twist: three bankers, each overwhelmed by personal struggles, make a desperate decision to help themselves to funds from a long-abandoned account.

The plan was spearheaded by Abdul, who discovered the account and confirmed that its owner had been dead for ten years with no listed beneficiaries. He pitched the idea to Harriet, who was hesitant at first but reminded Abdul that they still needed authorization from the branch manager, Tola, before any money could move.

Tola, known for being strictly by-the-book, seemed like the one person who would never agree to such a plan. But Abdul saw an opportunity: Tola’s mother was gravely ill, her marriage was crumbling, and she had been left with crushing debt. He decided this was the perfect moment to approach her.

Abdul convinces Tola 

After offering her emotional support and listening to her troubles, Abdul finally presented the idea. Tola was shocked, but the reality of her circumstances made her entertain what would ordinarily be unthinkable. Much to Abdul’s surprise, she agreed. The trio executed the plan flawlessly, moved the money, and split it three ways. Life returned to normal, or so they thought.

The storm arrives: Ezekiel

Three weeks later, their secret unravelled. A man named Ezekiel walked into the bank demanding access to his late father’s account, the same account they had emptied. Abdul immediately alerted Tola and Harriet, and panic washed over them. While Tola believed they should return the money, Harriet supported Abdul’s idea to stall Ezekiel by requesting more documents.

But Ezekiel wasn’t going away. He persisted, returned with every document asked of him, and confronted Abdul again — this time causing a scene when Abdul tried to delay him further. Tola attempted to manage the situation, but Ezekiel made one thing clear: he wants his father’s money, and he wants it now.

Will the trio be forced to pay him off? Can they frustrate him enough to make him drop his claim, or is this the beginning of their downfall?
