Families of the Nigerian Idol Contestants turned up last night in the first of several surprising moments on the Live Show.
The theme of yesterday’s Live Show was Family Favourites and this involved the Contestants performing songs picked by their family members. Before the performances started, IK shocked the Contestants with the announcement of the presence of their family members.  His announcement set the stage for the burst of excitement on the face of the Contestants as they saw their family members for the first time in a long while.

The surprises continued with a surprise Father’s Day message for IK who had thought the show was going on a commercial break. The Father’s Day surprises continued with Obi Asika also getting a shoutout from his daughter.

Then came time for the performances and the first to be called on stage to perform was Victory who gave a delightful rendition of ‘My Redeemer Lives’ by Nicole C. Mullen.

The next Contestant to be announced as a performer for the night was Savy Henry who gave a warm rendition of ‘Hero’ by Enrique Iglesias. Simi commended him for coming out of his comfort zone while singing a song that soothed his voice. His time on stage ended with a cute moment with his mom as IK had invited her on stage to comment on her son's exploits on Nigerian Idol.

Just before the final performance. Simi popped on our screens with a special Father’s Day message to her husband Adekunle Gold.
Finally, it was time to decide who would become the last Contestant to make it to the Top 6, a showdown between Chisom and Quest.

After a few minutes of tension, Quest was announced as the Contestant to make it to Top 6. This ultimately meant Chisom was out of the competition. When asked about how he felt, Chisom said he would do more with his music and that the world should expect more from him going forward.
The last to make it to Top 6, Quest performed ‘Alabaster Box’ by CeeCee Winans. Obi commended her vocal agility as well as Simi who also advised her to enunciate her words clearly.
