Everyone has big dreams and if yours is being a star footballer for your dream club, sorry we can’t help you; but if you are lucky, Iheanacho might ‘cut soap’ for you and rub off some of his magic on you. For others, standing on stage in front of thousands of adoring fans singing along to their chart-topping hit songs is their big dream. Now, these ones we can help.
In a quest to fulfil this BIG dream, thousands applied and Auditioned for Nigerian Idol season 6 and after weeks of trying to convince the Judges with their stage performances and vocal depth that they were cut out for the big leagues, 11 lucky contestants were given the shot at making their dreams a reality. These contestants sure deserve to sit pretty on the Top 11 table.
Get to know them better below:
She was quite nervous the first time she appeared in front of our Judges and Obi Asika had to urge her to try and relax. Despite this, her nervousness was still evident all through her performance. "You have a wonderful voice so you shouldn't be so nervous," Seyi Shay remarked as she gave her verdict. It's been weeks since that Audition and the once nervous Akunna has now turned into a queen on stage. Her performance during the Group Stage where she covered up for a group member who forgot the lyrics, and her last performance before being announced as a member of the elite Top 11 showed us a whole new side to Akunna. A side that is going to be a worthy challenger in this season of Nigerian Idol.
Sharing the same name with a mega superstar already meant she had big shoes to fill, but by the time she was done with the Judges, it was obvious she was going to be a force to be reckoned with on the show. Despite being the youngest, Beyonce is ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with her fellow contestants – and we’re excited to see this.
From the start, this amazing singer already stole the show with his rendition of Labyrinth's 'Jealous'. His touching story about how his dad left him and his siblings when they were quite young and showed them no love, made his Audition even more touching. According to Clinton, being on Nigerian Idol would be a dream come true for him and as the Judges announced he had made it to the Top 11, you could see how much living his dream meant to him.
She gave an authentic Naija flavour with smooth vibes for her Audition that mesmerised the Judges, and she sure owned every bit of her performance. Now that she’s in the Top 11, should we expect more from where this came from? We can’t wait to see Comfort leaving her all on our Nigerian Idol live stage!
When you get a shot to Audition for Nigerian Idol and you decide to risk it all by performing your own original song, then you must either be a risk-taker or just confident about your superpowers. In Daniel's case, he must have been pretty sure of his talent and musical prowess and that's why he decided to take the big risk of performing his own composition. In the end, it paid off as he joins the elite Top 11 squad! Let's see how far his super talent will carry him.
When it comes to Dotun, a great performance isn't just about vocal display but also showmanship. From his stylish walk after getting his Golden Ticket, to smoothly switching Sade's name with Seyi's while performing Adekunle Gold's 'Sade', this smooth operator sure has an all-projecting finesse, in addition to his superb performance. Dotun is a man on a mission, and we would like to see how much of this mission he plans to complete, on Nigerian Idol S6.
This cheerful and talented singer had his eyes set on making it into the Nigerian Idol Top 11 list, but after watching every member of his group get sent home during Theatre Week, the pressure began to set in. But like the pro that he is, he brushed the pressure off his shoulders and delivered an amazing cover of Sam Cooke’s ‘A Change Is Gonna Come’. As the battle gets intense in the coming weeks, can he deal with the pressures to come?
Faith was the only contestant who had the luxury of having Seyi Shay walk up to him with his Golden Ticket immediately after his performance. His rendition of Jon Bellion's 'All Time Low' was remarkable enough to earn that unforgettable gesture. Now a Top 11 finalist, we look forward to him topping each performance. Can he rise to the occasion! Something tells us he can.
Meet Faith Mac
She was already making a mark for herself in the fashion industry, but why settle for one crown when you have the talent to earn another? So, Faith Mac ventured into our Auditions studio and dazzled our judges with her Audition. "There's something special about you," Seyi Shay said and it didn't take us long to agree. This special talent made it impossible for the Judges to leave her out of the competition when it came to making a choice between her and Daniel – and in the end, instead of having a Top 10, we had a Top 11. Very well deserved, right?
Francis’ vocal range left the judges dazzled and he maintained that energy right from the Audition stage to Theatre Week. Not even the language barrier could stop him from giving a stellar rendition of Teni's ‘Billionaire’ during his group performance. His final stage act got him a unanimous 'Yes' from all the Judges, effectively sealing his spot in the Nigerian Idol Top 11.
For the first time ever, we saw Seyi Shay cry – and Kingdom's captivating and heartfelt performance was responsible for the tears. It was the first time we had ever seen such a reaction and just judging by it, we knew Kingdom was destined for great things on Nigerian Idol. How great? Guess we'll just have to wait to find out.
There you have it! Your Nigerian Idol Top 11 is set to bring the heat to the live stage as they battle for the season 6 crown. Can you predict who will take the title home?
