From Sandra Ikeji’s record-breaking wedding train to Adekunle and Simi’s visual extravaganza, here's a look at Nigeria's ultimate weddings.

A wedding train for the books

When you plan lavish events for a living, it goes without saying that you would want to gift yourself one that is grander than all of the events that you’ve ever hosted.  Such was the case when established event planner and sister to Africa’s most influential blogger, Sandra Ikeji, hosted her white wedding. Sandra not only went big, she also broke a Guinness World Record while she was at it.

Using models from her Blackdove modeling agency, friends and family, Sandra managed to bring the Hallmark Events Centre in Lagos to a standstill with a 200 woman train of bridesmaids who wore gold, satin dresses.

Nigeria’s favourite love story

Ah! Who no like Susu and Banky? Nigeria’s favourite Nollywood couple, Adesua Etomi and Banky Wellington spared no costs when it came to their nuptials. Held in the beautiful city of Cape Town South Africa, theirs was a wedding whose hashtag, #BAAD2017, trended for days.

Mai Atafo was on the fit and renowned photographer Kelechi Amadi-Obi snapped the day away as Adesua and Banky looked picture perfect with a background that was even more dreamy.

Stephanie Coker's Greece island dream

Nigeria’s media sweetheart married her politician beau David Olumide Aderinokun during a to die-for-wedding ceremony that was held on the Greek Island of Mykonos. The pre-wedding bridal shoot, the over the top princess wedding gown and the picturesque location came together to create a wedding that is worthy of making it onto our ‘Ultimate Wedding’ list.

The couple has been married for two years have recently welcomed their first daughter.

Opulence on display

Fatima Dangote and Jamil Abubakar’s wedding celebrations were hosted over eight events including a bridal shower, Budan Kai (conveyance of the bride) and dinner receptions hosted by the groom and the bride’s family. The celebrations happened in various locations including Kanu, Abuja, and Lagos with VIP guests that included Nigeria’s president, Bill Gates and the president of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo amongst others. Wizkid and Davido performed at the dinner reception where she allegedly wore a dress that cost over N30 million.

What else can we expect from the daughter of Africa’s richest man and the son of Nigeria’s former Inspector General of Police?

A Promise Sealed With A Song

Adekunle Gold and Simi are quite the marry your friend couple goals. Their sweet social media banter often becomes the subject of many online blogs. They lovingly troll each other on Twitter, share odd snaps on Insta and show each other off on their timelines.

The two initially kept their wedding celebrations private and shared little on social media. But, they eventually gave the people what they wanted and dropped their single ‘Promise’ which as accompanied by a video that incorporates visuals from their wedding day.

They topped their wedding celebrations with a honeymoon in Cape Town where they continued to share pictures of them exploring the Mother City.

Which of these wedding celebrations is for you the ultimate one? Is it, Sanda Ikeji’s record-breaking wedding train, Susu and Banky’s Cape Town splurge, Stephanie Coker’s island dream in Greece, Fatima Dangote’s opulent affair or Adekunle and Simi’s visual extravaganza?
