We will be getting a glimpse into the lives of the Top 8 as they take us through sounds that embody their life.

This week on Nigerian Idol the Top 8 will be giving us a glimpse into their life as they will be presenting songs that represent the ‘Greatest Soundtrack’ of their lives. We will be serenaded with chart-topping hits that have influenced the Contestants one way or the other. Let’s get right to it;

Abigail: ‘I’ll Be There By Mariah Carey’ – Nigerian Idol  

Abigail will be performing the Mariah Carey cover of the smash hit ‘I'll Be There’. Though Mariah’s version of the song was released in 1994, the original record was performed by the Jackson 5 and was released in the year 1970 as part of their third album,


Banty: ‘Greatest Love of All’ By Whitney Houston – Nigerian Idol  

Banty is set to lay down those vocals as she will be performing ‘Greatest Love of All’ by Whitney Houston. Here’s a fun fact about the song; Whitney’s recording of the song was a cover of a much older version originally recorded by George Benson in the year 1977. 

David Operah: ‘Great Nation’ By Timi Dakolo – Nigerian Idol  

David Operah will be taking on Timi Dakolo’s signature hit ‘Great Nation’ this Sunday on the Live Show. The song was released in 2011 and was part of Timi’s album ‘Beautiful Noise’. 

Debby: ‘My Heart Will Go On’ By Celine Dion – Nigerian Idol 

Debby will be performing the original soundtrack from the Titanic movie titled ‘My Heart Will Go On’. The song originally performed by Celine Dion topped the charts and eventually won an Oscar at the 1998 Academy Awards.

 

Faith: ‘Charlie’ By Simi  – Nigerian Idol 

Faith, who has confessed to being a fan of Simi, will be taking on one of her hits titled ‘Charlie’. The song was released in the year 2019 as part of Simi’s album ‘Omo Charlie Champagne Vol 1’


Itohan: ‘I Look To You’ By Whitney Houston – Nigerian Idol 

Itohan is taking on another vocal masterpiece by Whitney Houston as she will be performing Whitney’s 2009 hit ‘I Look To You’. The song was a part of Whitney’s final album which shares the same name with the single. 


Jordan: ‘This Is Me’ from The Greatest Showman – Nigerian Idol 

Jordan will be performing the show tune ‘This is Me’ from the Greatest Showman. The song was rendered by Keala Settle alongside the ensemble from the movie which was released in the year 2017.

Progress: ‘I Need an Angel’ By Ruben Studdard – Nigerian Idol 

Progress will be taking us to church once again with the Ruben Studdard hit ‘I Need an Angel’. The single is a part of Ruben’s album of the same name which was released in 2004. 

Zadok: ‘Soul Provider’ By Michael Bolton – Nigerian Idol 

Zadok will be giving us a good dose of soul with his performance of ‘Soul Provider’ by Michael Bolton. The song was part of Michael Bolton’s sixth studio album with the same name.
