Whether on screen or on stage, Damilare Kuku delivers flawless performances and continues to ignite artistic splinters.

She stole our gazes and occupied our pedestals of admiration rent-free by simply doing more than justice to the Iyoma Gyado role on our most recently wrapped serving, Unbroken. Damilare Kuku is a force to be reckoned with and we’re sooo for it.

With nearly a decade of small/big screen and theatrical career, this feisty yet very well-grounded University of Lagos masters alumnus created her own head start in the form of a web series centred around her birthplace and the dynamics of her childhood. As relayed by her, the series was a reaction to an itch that new graduates of the arts usually come wrapped in. A kind of passion that despite facts of the industry’s difficulty of access, permeates and seeks recognition from those with an eye and ear for rough but promising talent.

Dami’s focus did pay off when she landed her first TV appearance on our very own Tinsel, but her first professional role interpretation was on Kanayo Omo’s Kakaku The Musical, a stage play that tested her ability to immerse herself in character, forgetting and forsaking all else. The now well flavoured Dami went on to take up roles with Ebony Life’s Castle and Castle, our very own Hostel Majestic, Blessing Egbe’s Ten Virgins and with a plethora of other on and off-screen productions.

From binging on America’s ‘24’ and aspiring to reach milestone similar to those of the likes of Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jalade, Damilare Kuku has become one of the most promising female talents in the industry and continues to add volume to her artistic voices. Though Unbroken has wrapped, we’re sure we’ll be seeing much more of her going forward. Congratulations are in order!
