On Sunday, the Nigerian Idol Contestants are going to be celebrating Africa and its diverse musical sound with hits from legends and icons in the African music space. Take a look below at what each Contestant will serenade you all with on Sunday.


Chisom: Holiday by Rema

Chisom will be giving us some cool kid vibes as he performs ‘Holiday’ by Mavin Record signee Rema. The song was released as part of his album “Rave and Roses”. Rema rose to stardom after releasing the song "Dumebi". In 2019, he signed a record deal with Jonzing World, a subsidiary of Mavin Records and has gone on to be one of Nigeria's most successful Afrobeats artists from Nigeria. 

Constance: Calm Down by Rema ft Selena Gomez

Constance will also be bopping to Rema as she performs his hit track ‘Calm Down’ which features American singer Selena Gomez. Released in 2022, the song was released on 11 February 2022, through Jonzing World and Mavin as the album's second single. The song charted across Europe, reaching number one on the Belgian Ultratop 50, Dutch Top 40 and Dutch Single Top 100. In the United Kingdom, the song peaked at number three and has so far spent twenty-four non-consecutive weeks in the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart.

Goodness: Ku Lo Sa by Oxlade ft Camilla Cabello

Goodness will bring some good vibes with her performance of Ku Lo Sa by Oxlade featuring Camilla Cabello. The song was released on 10 June 2022 through Troniq Music and Epic Records for ColorsxStudios. Following its release, a live-performing video was released on Colours YouTube channel, which has received over 54 million YouTube streams as of 27 December 2022. 

Ose Daniel: Zombie by Fela Kuti

Ose Daniel will be doing justice to the king of Afrobeat Fela Kuti as he performs his critically acclaimed single ‘Zombie’ from the album of the same name. The album was released in 1976 by Coconut Records in 1976, and in the United Kingdom by Creole Records in 1977.

Precious Mac: Umqombothi by Yvonne Chaka Chaka

Precious Mac is taking us to the southern part of Africa as she will be performing ‘Umqombothi’ from South African music legend Yvonne Chaka Chaka. Released in 1988, the song was written by Sello "Chicco" Twala and Attie van Wyk as part of her album “Thank You, Mr DJ”. Wondering what Umqombothi means? Well, Umqombothi, in Xhosa, is a beer commonly found in South Africa made from maize, maize malt, sorghum malt, yeast and water.

Quest: Paradise Road by Joy

Quest will be performing the South African track ‘Paradise Road’ by the South African female group Joy. Written in 1979 by Patric van Blerk and Fransua Roos and Recorded in 1980 by the South African female vocal group Joy, which comprised Felicia Marion, Thoko Ndlozi and Anneline Malebo, the song topped the hit parade for nine weeks. "Paradise Road" went on to become an unofficial South African anthem:


Savvy Henry: Jailer by Asa

Savy Henry will be coming on stage with his crooner vibe as he will be performing ‘Jailer’ by Asa. The single was released in 2007 as part of Asa’s self-titled debut album. 

Victory: Prisoner by Lucky Dube

Victory will be tapping into the Rastafarian spirit as he performs ‘Prisoner’ by Lucky Dube.
