So many incredible things have happened in the past year for one of our favourite superstars, Laycon. Fresh from winning the coveted #BBNaija Lockdown title, Laycon has set his sights on conquering the world of music and is doing so with style and grace. With his star continuing to rise, bros decided to bring us much closer than arm’s length and let us in on his new life of music, fame, and fortune on hit reality series ‘I Am Laycon’ .
After blazing a trail as the first of its kind on Showmax, ‘I Am Laycon’ found a home on Africa Magic – and judging by your reactions on the TL, you were defs here for it, fam! We went TL scouting recently and this is what you had to say about Laycon’s T.T.O (You no know the meaning, sha? Total Take Over, abeg!)
He is real. Realness is him!
When we asked you to tell us what you admire most about your boy, hundreds of iCons (Love the name. Also, where do we sign up?) talked about how real bros is. A few instances from the show set it in stone and like you, we were totally here for it. From letting his team know that he absolutely refuses to let fame control him, and the way he wholeheartedly apologised to Alake, Laycon is Laycon, was Laycon and will always be Laycon!
Hard work is the philosophy
During one of his diary confessionals on the show, Laycon talked about how the hustle will always take precedence because despite the win, he wants to “deserve” his success. While you absolutely admire this about him, many people showed some concern and reckon bros deserves to rest and unwind occasionally. As one tweep put it, “It’s understandable you need to chase the bag, but guy remember health is wealth”. We couldn’t agree more!
His heart is with the music!
Looking back at his #BBNaija Lockdown journey, Laycon has always been about the music and understands just how much work is put into releasing quality music that doesn’t depend on clout or gimmicks to take off. In fact, Laycon would rather the quality of his sound justify his rise in the cutthroat music industry. iCons across the continent are simply amazed by Laycon’s lyrical prowess – and after pressing ▶️ and jamming to some of his jams, we absolutely see why. Hear sound, sha!
As humble as a dove!
Laycon’s humility and simple nature are two traits that many people absolutely admire about him. iCons on the TL made mention of some instances back in the #BBNaija House that warranted some level of aggression but were met with extreme level-headedness. Be it with business partners, friends and even foes (does bros even have those?) it’s clear that Laycon’s approach is always neutral and well-meaning, and all we can say is kudos to you sire for being exemplary.
We want more tours
Laycon announced that he’d be hitting the skies soon and would be visiting some new territories in order to connect with his fans, and you almost brought Twitters servers down with excitement. While the rest of Africa waits for their turn to ‘Hala At Your Boy’ Liberia will be hosting your boy. Aren’t they lucky, sha?
