Three new indigenous shows premiere this October on Africa Magic

From gripping revenge to cultural legacy and star-making dreams, Africa Magic’s new lineup brings fresh, authentic tales told in the languages that move us — Igbo, Yoruba, and Hausa. This October, three bold new shows take centre stage, each celebrating the heart, hustle, and humanity of African storytelling.

Kukoyi: Power, destiny and the price of greed

Premieres 11 October at 19:00 WAT on Africa Magic Yoruba.

Set in the fictional Yoruba village of Ogbagun, Kukoyi is a haunting yet beautiful epic that reimagines tradition, power, and consequence. After years of hardship, Aremu seizes the revered title of Abobaku — a position of wealth tied to death itself. But in chasing riches, he unknowingly traps himself in a dangerous dance with fate. Visually rich and deeply symbolic, Kukoyi is a 26-part drama that blends folklore, ambition, and betrayal into a story as timeless as it is tragic.

Mgbuka : A tale of brotherhood and betrayal

Premieres 11 October at 19:30 WAT on Africa Magic Igbo.

In the ruthless world of the scrap business, loyalty is currency and betrayal is fatal. Mgbuka follows childhood friends Uche and Uzoechi as their quest for success spirals into a web of deceit, vengeance, and redemption. When ambition meets conspiracy, Uche’s fight for justice threatens to consume everything he once held dear. Set against the gritty backdrop of Nigeria’s scrap trade, this gripping drama explores how far one man will go to reclaim his name and his peace.

Sabon Tauraron Arewa S2 : Turning dreamers to stars

Premieres 11 October at 20:00 WAT on Africa Magic Hausa.

The search for the next great Northern music sensation continues in Sabon Tauraron Arewa Season 2. Hosted by TY Shaban and Yahaya Sabo, this uplifting competition takes talented hopefuls on a journey of artistry and transformation. Guided by expert Star Makers, contestants grow from raw voices into true performers. With every challenge, triumph, and tear, the show celebrates the rhythm, resilience, and rising stars of Arewa.
