The first twist of Big Brother Naija Season 10 has officially landed, and it’s already shaking things up. During the live show, viewers were teased with news that an HoH Challenger feature would be introduced, and it didn’t take long for Biggie to deliver.
On Sunday night, Jason Jae was crowned the season’s first Head of House. What he didn’t know was that the title came with a condition: he would be the interim HoH until he could prove he deserved to keep it.
Jason Jae described his first day as HoH as “challenging,” and it’s no surprise why. Managing 28 strong personalities is no small feat. He had to assign duties, drawing heat when he placed Big Soso and Otega in the kitchen. Still, he remained committed to his leadership role.
However, once the wager brief dropped, things took a turn. Otega quickly stepped into the spotlight, organising housemates and directing the creative flow. With too many ideas buzzing around, he even enlisted writers to take notes on his behalf. While Otega appeared to take charge, Jason Jae was still officially in the HoH seat, at least for the moment.
Soon, Biggie dropped the bombshell: Jason Jae’s title would be challenged. Every week, the reigning HoH will need to defend their title in a challenge. Jason Jae was allowed to select five housemates to go up against him. He chose Bright Morgan, Dede, Kuture, Rooboy and Sultana.
Kuture was the first to attempt the challenge and, despite some confusion around the instructions, completed it in just over 10 minutes. Rooboy raised the stakes with an impressive 2 minutes and 53 seconds. But Jason Jae sealed the deal, finishing the task in 2 minutes and 44 seconds, retaining his HoH title and solidifying his place in the game.
His guest, Doris, remains in the HoH lounge.
But with the season’s first wager presentation approaching, Jason Jae’s work is far from done. Will he continue to rise to the occasion, or will the weight of leadership wear him down? Time will tell if Jason Jae can go from interim to iconic.
