Demi Moore has officially announced that she will file for divorce from her husband Ashton Kutcher.

Demi and Ashton were wed in 2005. The couple’s relationship has been strained by claims that the Two and a Half Men star cheated on Demi on their sixth wedding anniversary with 22 year-old Sara Leal in September.

Rumoured to be on the verge of separation due to this scandal, Demi has confirmed the speculation.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton,” Demi declared in statement her publicist released.



Demi felt desecrated by Ashton’s alleged affair.

“As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life,” she explained.

Ashton has no harsh feelings towards Demi for her decision to end their marriage. He holds the memories they have together in high esteem.

"I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK (sic),” Ashton posted on his Twitter account shortly after the annulment announcement.

Demi needs time to recover from this challenging period in her life. She asks the public to give her some space.

“This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation.”
