In Marvel’s The Avengers, which smashes into BoxOffice on Wednesday, 29 August, Nick Fury assembles a dynamite team consisting of Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Thor who are tasked to save planet Earth from the destructive clutches of the evil Loki.



The exhilarating movie showcases a bit of humor combined with thunderous action and a whole lot of superheroes. At the helm of the high-adrenalin villain smashing is hammer-wielding God Thor played by Chris Hemsworth.



Know more about the mighty Thor
Thor is from another realm, a kingdom of Norse Gods ruled by his father Odin. He is known as the God of thunder and is the epitome of everything that is righteous, with his foremost goal being to protect mankind.

But things were not always such. Thor’s former mindset of hasty anger and arrogance cast him in a negative light in his father’s eyes. Odin declares that Thor must first discover humility in order to wield the powerful hammer known as Mjolnir/The Grinder. An inscription on the side of the hammer reads: "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor." Thus Thor proves himself worthy and the magnetic force between him and The Grinder will forever remain as long as Thor remains righteous.



His superpower
Armed with otherworldly strength and tightly clasping The Grinder, Norse God Thor is unstoppable in any given battle. His grandeur stems largely from The Grinder which was forged from an Asgardian metal. The hammer returns to the exact spot from which it is thrown and returns to Thor when summoned. Using the hammer Thor is able to summon lightning, wind and rain, as well as manipulate the weather and open portals transferring him to another dimension (from earth to Asgard and vice versa).
