Stars heat up Telemundo launch
The hype around the DStv Telemundo launch at Movida last week was enough to give anyone FOMO, so I went along. And tt would appear that South African viewers with a penchant for soapies and drama have a lot to look forward too.

If you're fan of local telenovelas iNkaba (Monday - Thursday on Mzansi Wethu at 20:30) or Isibaya (Monday - Thursday on Mzansi Magic at 20:30 and also available on DStv Catch Up) then don't move. Exclusively dedicated to telenovelas, Telemundo (channel 118) launches today and brings dramatic storylines, exotic locations and glamorous personalities to Africa under the tagline: “Feel the passion”

It's where steamy hot characters meet riveting storylines. But unlike the soapies you're used to, these come to an eventual end.

Telemundo shipped in some of these steamy Latino actors for the launch. The ladies swooned and the guys whistled, but the language barrier was awkward so we dashed to catch up with some of our local talent instead.

We couldn't help but notice as recent Big Brother The Chase evictee Koketso Modiba and previous BBA winner Uti Nwachukwu arrived together. Is there a little BBA magic happening here? We're not sure yet but you will be the first to know when we do.

Another ex-BBA housemate on the radar was Weza Solange who was shooting an insert for Good Morning Africa (every day on AfricaMagic at 07:00). Rumour has it she has bagged a deal with some of SA’s top film talent. We're on the hunt for the details so stay tuned.

Roxy Burger

Roxy Burger is the IT girl right now. She is certainly living her childhood dream as she takes her place as a co-host of MTV Choice, which hits the airwaves later this month. If you know Roxy, you'll know all about that effervescent personality but right now she's literally walking on cloud nine. She spilled the beans on how most kid presenters dream of being their own version of Carson Daly - the original MTV TRL VJ to those of us born in the 80s - and now she's living that dream. We couldn't be happier for her.

Idols SA alumni Melissa and Sasha

Idols SA Season 8 runner up Melissa Allison dazzled in gold sequins. With her album in pre-production and just two months from the shelves, she still hasn't decided on the album's title. Melissa is also setting in motion her dream of getting into acting, so we're keeping a keen eye on her. Follow her on @melialli for more about that single. As for romance, who has time when they're bringing out an album?

So back to the Telemundo launch. We were surprised to see former Miss South Africa Vanessa Carreira-Coutroulis as the MC. You wouldn't believe me if I told you she has just had triplets and there isn't an ounce of baby weight to show for it. Some girls have all the luck.

Catch all the telenovela’s on Telemundo starting today on DStv, channel 118.
