The new Shout video was released in Johannesburg today. It features a whole host of SA’s most loved stars shouting out for a good cause. Check it out.

In 2010 musicians Danny K and Kabelo Mabalane had both reached their wit’s end when it came to the depressing crime statistics in South Africa.

It hit too close to home and the country’s reputation was being tarnished by the excessively high numbers. They stepped up and co-founded Shout, a campaign they used to call on all South Africans to pledge their support to fighting the scourge of crime and criminals.

Together with scores of other musicians and personalities from the entertainment industry, they created their version of the Tears for Fears classic, Shout. The song went to number one on several charts across the country and the proceeds from the track were donated to those affected by crime as well as to organisations working to prevent crime in South Africa.

Now they’re back. The crime fighters released their new song, together with this music video at Montecasino, in Johannesburg. The song is called You’re The Voice, and was originally done by John Farnham. The video features over thirty celebrities including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Kurt Darren, popular radio and TV personality Bonang Matheba, Prime Circle, Vuzu’s Lalla, Carte Blanche presenter Chantal Rutter and Idols stars Lloyd Cele and Elvis Blue. In addition to the new track, news of the campaign’s first App was announced. The App was developed by Samsung and will be available from 1 April for free on all Android devices, with other devices to follow soon. The App allows users to see where there are crime hot spots, call for help in case of an emergency with the touch of a button. The technology will also allow users to find the nearest police station through the use of Google Maps.
