Young entrepreneurs looking for a brilliant creative idea to showcase at the upcoming Mzansi Magic Market Day are in for a treat!

On Saturday, 11 August, the Mzansi Magic Market Day team will be out in full force at Cresta Shopping Centre, hosting a fully booked free workshop designed to ignite creativity in young South Africans.

The workshop is also designed as an exchange session and is a fantastic way to prepare for this year’s Mzansi Magic Market Day which takes place on Saturday, 1 September at Cresta Shopping Centre.

Youngsters between the ages of 7-15 years are invited to take part in the workshop, which forms a key part of Mzansi Magic Market Day’s vision to equip young entrepreneurs with the skills, knowledge and most importantly, the experience to play a positive role in South Africa as they move into adulthood.

One of the many success stories emerging out of Mzansi Magic Market Day is that of Josh Thirion who used last year’s Market Day at Canal Walk in Cape Town to sell 30 of his self-penned cook books.

Nine-year-old Josh subsequently earned himself a book publishing deal out of his Mzansi Magic Market Day success.Cook With Josh: Recipes and Games For Kids (published by Random House Struik) is due on shelves in September. It features 48 recipes plus plenty of family-fun games and Josh’s own drawings - and is likely to become a favourite of young children all over the country.

Aside from being a showcase of South Africa’s young entrepreneurs and performing talent, the 2012 Mzansi Magic Market Day also has some great prizes up for grabs. The judging is based on originality and the execution of bright plans. The products on sale at Mzansi Magic Market Day have to be unique and able to fly from the stalls, which themselves should be eye-catching.

The winner of the Regional Stall Prize wins prizes to the value of R3000. With the inclusion of around 750 participating schools this year, there is also a school prize to the value of R5000 for the school with the most successful entries and a Teacher Prize of R5000 cash for the teacher who best supports his or her learners.
 
The grand prize is 2012 Mzansi Magic Young Entrepreneur of the Year, which has prizes to the value of R20 000 and is one of the top accolades for young entrepreneurial talent in South Africa.
